Overview
WayRound is developed and operated by TheScarlet.nl. If you created a WayRound account, you have complete control over your data. You can permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time either directly inside the app or by submitting a request via email.
If you have never signed in and use WayRound exclusively in guest mode, no account exists on our servers; deleting the app from your device immediately removes all local data.
How to Delete Your Account
Method 1: In the App Immediate
You can delete your account directly from within the WayRound app on Android or iOS:
- Open the WayRound app on your device.
- Open the Profile tab.
- Tap the Settings gear icon at the top right.
- Scroll to the Account section.
- Select Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion prompt.
- Sign in again with Google or Apple when asked. This confirms it is really you.
When the deletion completes, the app returns to signed out. Your account, profile information, saved routes and recorded trips have then been permanently removed from our cloud databases (Firebase Firestore and Firebase Authentication) and from that device. If anything interrupts it, such as a lost connection, the app shows an error instead: tap Retry to finish. Your account is only deleted once the app has returned to signed out.
Method 2: By Email Request Within 30 Days
If you have uninstalled the app or no longer have access to your device, you can request account deletion by emailing us:
- Send email to: privacy@wayround.app or info@thescarlet.nl
- Subject line:
Delete my WayRound account - Details required: Please email from the email address registered with your WayRound sign-in (Google or Apple ID email address), or state your account email address clearly in the body.
Upon verifying your identity, our team will permanently delete your account within 30 days and confirm by return email.
What Data Is Deleted
When your account is deleted, the following personal data is permanently wiped:
| Authentication Record | Your Firebase Authentication user identity, email link, and security tokens. |

| User Profile | Your user document (users/{uid}), display name, email address, and avatar photo link. |
| Saved Routes | All your saved Routes: names, settings, and the path of each Route. |
| Completed Routes | All your recorded rides, including GPS track points, timestamps, distance, and elevation. |
Data Retention & Exceptions
We do not retain personal identifying information once an account is deleted. Limited non-identifying technical data is subject to standard automatic expiration:
- Crash Diagnostics: Crash reports in Firebase Crashlytics are not linked to user accounts (Crashlytics user IDs are not set) and are automatically purged after 90 days.
- Server Transit Logs: Logs on our routing server record IP addresses and route requests (including route coordinates). They rotate weekly and are deleted within 5 weeks. These logs do not contain user account IDs, names or email addresses, so they cannot be matched to your account.
